Using Vertex Colors

To make vertex colors visible you must be in a shaded mode. Select any of the shaded modes, such as Smooth Shade All, from the Shading menu in a view panel. Next select Color > Toggle Display Colors Attribute. Furthermore you must have set a Color Material Channel other than None. See Color > Color Material Channel. This option controls which material shader channel Maya overrides with the vertex color. To avoid interference of scene lighting with the display of vertex colors, turn on Lighting > Use No Lights.

Using Textures

To avoid blurry textures open the Material Attributes, go to your 2D Texture and set the Filter Type to Off.
